     Standarization and Metrology starts with more than 25 initiatives and introduces new adminstration to support small and medium institutions.
             
    Dr. Tamas Ali Al Hammadi, Director General of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality in the Eastern Region, stressed Ithat there are more than 25 initiatives that the committee is working on. The committee has paid great attention to its primal strategic focus to the consumer safety through launching the initiatives of the Trade and Investment System for the National Transformation 2020 program, and  approved a number of projects and initiatives to enhance this aspect, and activate the role of the private sector in the implementation of national development plans. In the past year, The total number of factories and companies granted the right to put quality mark on its products 151 establishments, and issued 17370 licenses for energy efficiency for the same number of models of air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, light vehicles, tires, electric motors and lighting, and pointed that in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Saudi industry, the introduction of a new management committee under the name "support for small and medium institutions."
    Al Hammadi said in the meeting on Tuesday, April 4, in Asharqia Chamber, which was attended by a number of members of the board of directors and a number of businessmen from the region, interested parties and specialists, that the committee is launching Saber next year, The products are based on smart phones. It is used as an indicator to measure the safety of the products presented on the market. They review the basic goals of the committee, including the issuance of Saudi standards, quality systems and manuals, conformity assessment, health and environmental protection and public safety, for the approval of the Saudi standards and enables appropriate national products from the competition and the protection of the Kingdom of commodity markets and counterfeit replicas.
    Al Hammadi  talked about the  strategy committee of 2018, which is approved by the Board of Directors of the committee. Setting the goals up and  a strategy based on the values ​​of professionalism, neutrality, integration and creativity and aims to raise the level of satisfaction of consumers and consumers and enhance the culture of quality in the Kingdom.
    Regarding the supervisory role of the committee, Al Hammadi said that it is an integrative role with regulators such as the Ministry of Trade and Investment, the Customs  committee and so on, pointing out the roles played by the committee within its supervisory framework, such as: withdrawing 3923 sample items from the 2016 initiative, A sample of the goods in the laboratories of the  committee and calibration of 722 measuring devices in the National Center for Measurement and Calibration of the committee and the  publishing the products that are not matched on its website by pictures, and according to Hammadi, the procedures of acceptance of conformity assessment  committees wishing to work within the comprehensive program Control products.
    Al Hammadi said that the committee has implemented 24 projects to transfer to electronic transactions, referring to the implementation of " takad" smartphones, which gives the individuals the ability to verify that the products get the quality or energy efficiency of household appliances and tires and fuel economy standard for light vehicles.
    Al Hammadi concluded by reviewing the achievements of the  committee, noting that it achieved the first rank in measuring the electronic transformation by 87% in the financial and commercial government sector according to the results of the annual report of the e-Government program (Yesser) and the Middle East Institute for Government and Smart Cities (Wasef), as well as the Best Arab Smart Applications Award for the application of " takad"  in the ceremony held by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development in Egypt.
    At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General of Asharqia Chamber, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabel, presented a  memorial shield to Dr. Tames Al Hammadi in this occasion.
